Planning a trip with your pals? Here are 8 convincing reasons why you should travel with friends, and the benefits that come with it.
Who is your go-to travel companion?
A spouse? A best friend?
For us, something special happens when we travel with friends. Berty and I believe that it adds a deeper layer and more experiences to the relationships we keep.
So, while solo travel has its benefits, we’re here to tell you in this post why we love group travel!
8 Reasons Why You Should Travel With Friends
1. Traveling With Friends Brings Deeper Relationships
By the end of your time together, you will probably have seen your friends in all their forms.
Waking up in the morning, grumpy and tired in the evening, and exhausted from long plane transfers. But, you will also get to see them at their very best!
The opportunity to see them in so many different scenarios is rare when you’re at home. When you travel together, you can begin to know a truer form of your friends!
2. It’s Cheaper To Travel With Friends
When you travel with friends, the entire adventure is more affordable!
For example: squeezing 5 into a hotel room splits the accommodations five ways. You can also cut down on transportation, food, and other costs.
I feel like this one is a win/win, everyone gets to be with their friends, and you get to do more for cheap!

3. You Can Pack Lighter
When I (Emily) went backpacking with my friends in the Cascades, we split up carrying things like tent pieces, cooking supplies, and safety equipment.
Just like backpacking, the more people that come with you, the more ways you can split up the gear. Everyone carries less!

4. You Will Have More Pictures To Share
Traveling with friends means there is always a photographer ready to capture a moment!
It also means you’ll be in more pictures too! Make a rule to be unabashed with any photos, so people have the freedom to catch all the candid moments.
You can laugh about them all later!
5. You Will Have The Ability To Try New Things
There will likely be someone in the group who is more adventurous than the rest.
This friend will encourage you to get outside of your comfort zone and take risks! Whether it be trying new foods or going down a zip line like this one – that extra push is all you need to make lasting memories.

6. When You Travel With Friends, It Makes Layovers/Travel Time More Bearable
I think it’s safe to say that most people prefer a traveling companion on long road trips.
It’s nice to have a friend to switch being the driver, and sing along to your favorite songs!
In addition, international transit can be tiring and confusing, so it can be comforting to have people to gripe and complain with you. π

7. You Share Skills + Knowledge
When you travel with friends, you don’t have to be an expert on every little thing.
There will most likely be a friend who dreams up fun activities, the one who keeps track of spending, the one who loves to cook, etc.
Collectively, everyone gains from each others’ strengths! (For me, I love being a part of anything breakfast, especially coffee!)
8. Traveling With Friends Provides Different Perspectives
I (Emily) have never been one to actively seek out new foods to try.
I’d rather spend my time checking out beautiful landscapes or structures! However, our friend Jeff loves cooking.
When in Bali, we sought out a Night Food Market for the purpose of experiencing all that the Island had to offer! I would have never thought to appreciate the cuisine as much if Jeff wasn’t on the trip!
