I venture below f/2 only when I need to because none of the above lenses achieve critical sharpness wide open. They are of course awesome lenses, but just aren't *as sharp* as I prefer. And yes, they are all microadjusted.
The 35 1.4 II is simply in another world compared to the rest of Canon's most recent L series primes from 24mm to 135mm. I felt like I put on a pair of glasses when I started peeping at the files. It's as sharp wide open as the old one was at 2.8. Color fringing is practically non existent, and it nails focus in dimly lit venues with my 5d3 bodies 90% of the time wide open, compared to maybe 65% of the time with the old one (we are talking ISO 3200, 1/100th, f/1.4 -- so not much ambient light). Color and contrast are gorgeous.
This is an expensive lens but in a class of its own and I'm thrilled with it.
It's bigger than the old version and seems quite a bit more robust.
I've used the Sigma Art lens, which seemed nearly as sharp, but focus accuracy was not as good in poorly lit reception venues.

A family member asked me to take some pictures at a wedding. I decided to rent this lens from a website. It worked good, and I shipped it back. Then I started using my lenses again, and soon realized that they were just not as good. I know.... you can't compare kit lenses against this one.
But I had been spoiled, so I had to buy one. I am very happy with it.
One thing to note, it comes with the lens hood and lens pouch. I didn't see those listed as accessories, so I bought them separately and now have extra.
