Music Mondays: Favorite Folk Artists
Playlist 12: Favorite Folk Artists
If you haven’t noticed already (from the weekly playlists) music has been a huge part of my life. I (Emily) have an older sister who has great taste in music, and who also surrounds herself with curious melody-seeking people. Growing up, we burned mixes onto CDs and belted out songs on our way to school every morning. It seemed like there was a playlist for everything!
One of our music foundations was folk music. Not sure how that genre came into our lives, but it is what it is. We waited impatiently to see Andrew Bird and Josh Ritter at the Bing Crosby Theater, binge-listened to For Emma, Forever Ago, and declared Fleet Foxes the sound of early morning commutes. Folk Artists and their music are a foundational favorite and I wanted to share my top picks with you in this playlist.
I hope you enjoy my blast from the past, as well as recent discoveries of budding favorites as well. Are you a folk artist lover? I’d love to hear your suggestions in the comments! By the way, if you haven’t heard of Take Away Shows, it’s when artists perform surprise concerts on the streets of Paris. And I would DIE happy if I saw one when we go to Paris in January!
Extra: If you have been liking these playlists, let’s connect on Spotify! I’m always down to hear new music! I would love to be a part of your music community. Let’s get together!
